Product Testing

If you’re anything like me, you love to try out new products and nothing beats doing it on somebody else’s dime! Everyone knows that word of mouth is the best advertising and a lot of companies are willing to invest in it. What does this mean for you? It means you can be on the receiving end of that investment. Turns out there are plenty of opportunities for bloggers to participate in product testing!

I’ve learned about a lot of these opportunities over the past few years on my favorite deals and coupons site (Smart Canucks). Here are some examples of the products I’ve tested (or am testing) or received as freebies:

  • Dove deodorant
  • Clorox Green Works laundry detergent and all purpose cleaner
  • Sunlight Green Clean laundry detergent
  • Danone DanActive
  • Vaseline Sheer Infusion
  • Ubisoft Wii Games: Your Shape with Jenny McCarthy and Just Dance
  • Lay’s Potato Chips
  • Burt’s Bees

All quality brand name products, right? All FREE. I just try them out in exchange for an honest review. Here are some links to get you started, too!

WORD OF MOUTH (WOM) MARKETING COMPANIES:

BzzAgent: A great site and large online community. It took a quite few months after I joined to be offered a campaign, but it was worth the wait!

Matchstick: There is not really any way I’m aware of to join unless there is a campaign available. The company usually targets bloggers but occasionally opens the offers up to everyone. I did a campaign with them before and hope to hear from them again. I’ll post if anything comes up!

WEBSITE PANELS:

Glow: Be a Glow Magazine product tester.

Urban Moms: Join urbanmoms.ca and become a Go2Girlz product tester.

Divine.ca: Become a member (fabulous site that you should become a member of anyway!) and join the divine.ca Review Squad.

ChickAdvisor: Join ChickAdvisor’s Product Review Club. You must first join the site and review 5 items on your own and then fill out the review club survey. It’s worth it!

If you know of any other great product testing opportunities, please share!

Remember: Beware of scams! No legitimate company will ever ask you for any kind of payment in exchange for testing a product.
